چکیده
A bstract We address some issues in higher-derivative gauged supergravity with Chern-Simons terms, focusing on the five-dimensional case. discuss variational problem Dirichlet boundary conditions as well holographic renormalization asymptotically locally AdS spacetimes, and derive corresponding terms. then employ Wald’s formalism order to define conserved charges associated local symmetries (diffeomorphisms U(1) gauge transformations), taking into account effect of generic prove that first law black hole mechanics quantum statistical relation hold this setup. terms also lead us distinguish between Noether Page (or Komar) which satisfy Gauss law. make use latter compute corrections angular momentum electric charge supersymmetric 5 from its corrected near-horizon geometry. This allows microcanonical form entropy a function relying entirely Finally, we comment four-derivative four dimensions, showing field redefinitions permit simplify action at linear corrections, so equations motion are those two-derivative theory.

Strings in Noncompact Spacetimes: Boundary Terms and Conserved Charges
We study some of the novel properties of conformal field theories with noncompact target spaces as applied to string theory. Standard CFT results get corrected by boundary terms in the target space in a way consistent with the expected spacetime physics. For instance, one-point functions of general operators on the sphere and boundary operators on the disk need not vanish; we show that they are...
متن کاملImpacts of supersymmetric higher derivative terms on inflation models in supergravity
We show the effects of supersymmetric higher derivative terms on inflation models in supergravity. The results show that such terms generically modify the effective kinetic coefficient of the inflaton during inflation if the cut off scale of the higher derivative operators is sufficiently small. In such a case, the η-problem in supergravity does not occur, and we find that the effective potenti...
متن کاملConstraining higher derivative supergravity with scattering amplitudes
Supersymmetry constraints on higher derivative couplings in maximal supergravity theories have been investigated extensively in the past [1–7] and have led to remarkable exact results on the quantum effective action of string theory. The method of Refs. [3,8–10] in obtaining constraints on higher derivative terms in gauge and gravity theories with maximal supersymmetry was by explicitly analyzi...
متن کاملDuality and higher derivative F - terms ⋆
We test the recently conjectured duality between N =2 supersymmetric type II and heterotic string models by analysing a class of higher dimensional interactions in the respective low-energy Lagrangians. These are F-terms of the form F g W 2g where W is the gravitational superfield. On the type II side these terms are generated at the g-loop level and in fact are given by topological partition f...
متن کاملE10 and gauged maximal supergravity
We compare the dynamics of maximal three-dimensional gauged supergravity in appropriate truncations with the equations of motion that follow from a one-dimensional E10/K(E10) coset model at the first few levels. The constant embedding tensor, which describes gauge deformations and also constitutes an M-theoretic degree of freedom beyond eleven-dimensional supergravity, arises naturally as an in...
